Hi lovelies. I missed you. Is that creepy? I hope not.
Just when I think things will calm down, my life hits the accelerator and doesn’t stop. I’m not really all that busy is just that I have time and food commitments that have been interfering with my blogging. I know there are a bazillion other bloggers out there that are twice as busy as me and still blog. They obviously rock and I’m trying to get there but progress has been slooooooow. I’m starting to get a plan in place to make sure I stay on top of things. Blogging hasn’t become a chore which is a good thing. I still enjoy it…..I just need to work it into my schedule better. And when I fall off the bandwagon for whatever reason (usually because of visitors or because I’m travelling), I tend to hide and then getting on top of my ToDo list gets tough. Much like what happens when I gain wait for the same reasons.
Speaking of weight, I recently joined a DietBet challenge. You bet on your ability to lose 4% of your weight in one month. I’ve been hanging onto some pounds that I gained after my wedding and figured it would really motivating to lose that weight. So far so good! I have already lost some weight, and have been able to stick to my new diet and have pretty much stuck to my workout plan.Just a word of warning though, 4% is pretty rapid for one month. Before you start something like DietBet make sure you do the research and make sure it’s right for you. If you don’t know, please consult a doctor. I’m not an expert by any means.
One of the challenges I have been facing is cooking regular, healthy meals that also taste great. It’s been quite a challenge because the food I grew up with that both my husband and I have experienced is awesome, but not meant for weight loss. Sure, I follow a lot of healthy blogs and find healthy recipes all the time but often those recipes include things I don’t normally eat, and that are out of my comfort zone. I was in a big rut and that’s bad news bears for a food blogger. One of my friends recently introduced me to something called The Fresh 20. It’s a subscription based meal plan that provides 5 healthy meals a week. You only have to buy about 20 ingredients each week so the budget stays down (you also need some pantry staples). The meals are all very healthy and the nutritional info is provided. There are even gluten free and vegetarian options available. So far it’s really helped with eating healthy homemade meals every night and helped me to better plan my caloric intake. Plus it has me trying things I never would have thought of before and it’s given me a LOT of inspiration!
