IFBC Part 1 – The People and the Swag

It’s hard to know where to start with IFBC because the entire conference was such an amazing experience. I guess I’d like to start by saying THANK YOU to Foodista and Zephyr for organizing such a wonderful conference. I’m sure it wasn’t easy! Also, a big thanks to the W Seattle for hosting, for providing such comfy beds and for giving me some Tylenol and some band aids for free when my poor feet got destroyed on the first night by my old shoes (Note: when shoes lose their support and cushioning, throw them out! It’s a great excuse to get new shoes!). Thank you also to Coryanne Etienne and her crew for organizing the fun Freshbloggers event.1-Photo 2013-09-22 8 55 47 PM

This is the swag I got from IFBC. I didn’t actually pick up everything from the “gift suite” either. There were some Kashi cereals that I love but that were quite large and I had limited room. Some people went back at the end of the evening and scooped up some of the extras that the vendors were begging to get rid of. Either way, that is the cost of conference in food and gifts right there and more. HUGE HUGE thank you to you sponsors. You rock. You are the ones that kept the cost of the conference down so that bloggers like myself could afford to attend them. Below are the amazing people responsible for sponsoring IFBC (in random order).

From my last post you probably knew that I was intimidated by meeting other bloggers. I was very nervous because I had never met other bloggers in person before and as such I had put them on a bit of a pedestal. Well I was happy to learn that my fellow bloggers were friendly, welcoming, down to earth and really just like me. Many bloggers remembered me from the Facebook group, others told me they loved my blog name or thought it was cute, and still more commented on my business cards. I’m so glad they came in time because the texture more than anything was something that made my business cards stand out.

Business Cards

Above are the majority of the business cards I received and at the bottom you can see mine!

Since I learned that I should support my fellow bloggers at the conference, here are (random) links to all of those amazing blogs. Please check them out!

I will be following up next week with a summery of the fantastic food we had and the great sessions I attended. Stay tuned!

PS – This post was delayed a lot because I had a WordPress problem where I couldn’t save a draft after adding a picture! Gah! WordPress seems to have fixed the problem though. Something to do with Apache? Hope it doesn’t happen again!

PPS – I have changed email subscribers. You should still receive emails if you signed up for them before but if you want to make sure or if you are new and would like to sign up, fill in the form at the top right!

I know! I disappointed that I didn’t get to meet yourself and several other bloggers I connected with online. Next year?
